Sepang F1 Track Race for Alfa Romeo Car Owners
 | The Alfa Romeo Owners Club
Malaysia organised a special one-day event at the Sepang F1 Circuit
for those owning an Alfa car on 4 Mar 2001. |
 | I invited Abbas and his family to join in the fun. We arrived there at
12:15pm and parked near the Paddock entrance. I estimate about 400 Alfa
cars came that day. |
 |
We were given a briefing in the room above the pit-stop.
There were some nice views of the race track from here. |

 |
By 3pm, we got into our cars and were queing to enter
the race track. Unfortunately, it started to rain, so we were told to
drive slowly. A safety car was supposedly to control us, but since we
didn't see any signs of control (be it car or flag-waving officers),
some of us sped along like bats out of hell. I think about forty cars
were on the track. |

 |
The Sepang F1 circuit is pretty vicious, especially in
the wet. A few corners were incredibly tight and flat, and caused my car
to slide as I overtook some slower drivers around the bend. Otherwise, a
pretty scenic route. |

 |
We were allowed only three laps, but we managed four. It
was over in thirty minutes. Finally, we were whisked back into the
carpark. Man, what a thrilling event! Not to mention it was free! |

 |
As a bonus, the latest Alfa 147 was on display. |
