The HP 8210e CD Writer

I got this CD Writer the same time as I purchased the video capture device, which was on 30 Oct 1999 for RM1240.
The main purpose is to:
produce home videos on vcd format
create multimedia applications on cd-r
save datafiles on cd-r
backup working project files on cd-rw media

My HP CD-RW sitting on my Mustek scanner.

Almost all my peripherals are USB-based, which includes this CD writer.
It has a 4x4x6x speed rating, which is slow by today's standard, but quite adequate for my home use.
So far, it has worked wonderfully well, and it's operation is reliable and consistent.
One feature I like is its own special format called DirectCD; this allows you to save and modify files on a CD-RW exactly like a diskette, meaning you can drag & drop files onto it from the Windows Explorer, and delete files from it, etc. without reformatting the CD-RW disc.
It takes less than 20 minutes to burn a whole CD-R (650MB) at 4x speed.
