My Panasonic NV-DS5 Digital Video Camera
 | I purchased this on 24 Jan 1998 for RM5000. Ok, that's a lot of money,
and funny enough, the prices have not really come down until today (I'm
writing this on 8 Oct 2000.) |

 | This is such a wonderful tool, as with it, I have managed to capture
memorable moments with my family and friends. |
 | You know, with a still camera, like an SLR, you may remember that the
best moments of the scene that you wanted to capture, was either before
or after you snapped the shutter! Those were the moments when everyone
was at their most natural and comfortable pose. However, people
generally get stiff and camera-conscious when you finally take the
picture. |
 | This is where the video camera comes in. It captures all moments -
before, during and after, together with all the bits in between,
not to mention the sounds of laughter and cries! People seem to be less
inhibitive of the video camera. |
 | Below are some of its key technical specs:
 | x20 optical / x100 digital zoom |
 | 3.8" colour swivel LCD monitor and colour viewfinder |
 | Image stabiliser |
 | 9 digital effects |
 | Stereo PCM recording |
 | Digital Still Picture snapshot |
 | DV in/out terminal |
 | Aluminium Diecast chassis |
|
 | I rate this digicam as excellent, producing very sharp and well
exposed video, with good, clear stereo sound. It is very easy to use,
and I like it's menu system that uses a dial which controls selection
and acts as the enter button. The dial also triples as a manual focus
control, volume control and jog control! This digicam is also pretty
compact, stylish and reliable. |
