Aztech 56K PCI Modem

A very heavy thunderstorm attacked the house on 26 Feb 2001, and a lightning strike caused a damage to my internal modem.
So, I decided to buy a new one, based on recommendations from Abbas. I went to SB Computers in SS2/60 and purchased a new Aztech 56K V.90 Internal PCI-based modem. It costs a mere RM 70!
Upon removing the damaged modem, I realised that the older card was ISA-based.

This got me excited because the newer PCI-based card should perform much faster. Indeed, this was the case after I installed the card and driver and got connected to the Internet.

Previously, my connection speed was 50,666 bps but now I can achieve 52,000 bps! The response is noticeably quicker.

Here is a closeup of the new card:

From now on, I shall remove the telephone cable from the modem line jack everytime I leave home...   :(
