Photo Printer

The PC Fair was being held at PWTC from 29 Nov - 1 Dec 2002, so Haniff and I decided to make our way there on the last day.
I had intended to buy the new Epson Stylus Photo 830 colour printer, as this was the latest and least expensive of the photo printers around. It was reputed to have excellent print quality.

Well, we hunted for the cheapest stall, and found one that sold it for RM435 (retailed at RM498). They also threw in a free black ink cartridge worth RM68. (The printer comes with one black and one multi-colour cartridge.)
I also purchased extra photo paper, and extra black and colour cartridges, which were sold as a pack for RM140. (Normally, the three items would cost RM34 + RM68 + RM55 = RM157.)
The silly thing was, and I only discovered this when I got home, is that the printer didn't come with any printer cables. So, I need to go to the nearest computer shop and buy a USB printer cable. So, I can't tell you how good the output is for now.
I bought the USB cable a few days later and tested the colour printout.
What can I say - the quality was fabulous! The colours were rich yet natural and the image very sharp and detailed. On the Epson Economy Photo Paper which I had, it had a tendency to tint skin tones slightly magenta-ish. But this was easily controlled via the printer QuickPhoto software settings.
It took about 5-6 minutes to print 1 A4 borderless print, but it was well worth the wait.
Later, I may buy a rotary paper trimmer to allow clean cutting of 3R-sized pictures.
I bought a 12" Dahle 507 rotary trimmer on 17 Dec 2002 which cost me RM155. This was easy to use, and had a sharp cutter.

All this is to print photographs from my Nikon Coolpix 5700...
